News of a rescue dog named Hogan, who was constantly overlooked by potential fosterers, finally being fostered has warmed hearts across the internet.
Monmouth County SPCA describes Hogan as being "one of those dogs who was passed up month after month"—before being placed in a stable home around Thanksgiving.
The New Jersey animal rescue shelter detailed Hogan's moving story in a post on its official Facebook page. Staff at the shelter revealed that the dog had been in the shelter's care for "over a year" due to displaying signs of stress and anxiety which turned fosterers off caring for him. After a long wait, Hogan finally caught the eye of a loving foster family who have since taken him on.
"Luckily, he was able to go to in Loveafoster care where he finally could be his true, amazing self. Hogan was another one of our 'foster fail' success stories and now he's a spoiled boy who loves his sweaters and cuddle time," staff at the rescue shelter wrote online.

"What a difference a year can make."
"Being thankful can mean so many things. Thankful for friends, thankful for family, and thankful for having people in our lives who care. Here at the Monmouth County SPCA, we're thankful for those who can see the beautiful personalities of our pets waiting to shine through," they added.
Loveafoster is Monmouth County SPCA's foster care system, which has saved over 118 dogs to date. The program joins foster families with dogs in need at the shelter to build a bridge between a rescue dog's past and future.
The rescue shelter urges those keen to foster or adopt a rescue dog not to "judge a dog in their kennel", and instead "imagine them on a couch". The warning comes after Hogan was repeatedly brushed off as a potential foster dog for appearing distressed and upset while inside the confines of his kennel.
Since it was shared on the social media platform on November 24 by Monmouth County SPCA's official Facebook account, the post has been liked by over 500 users.
"So happy he has a home," one user wrote.
Another user added: "Love this happy ending."
