Moline is presenting design concepts for planned development along the Mississippi riverfront next month.
The city and Renew Moline are hosting the Moline Riverfront ‘Love the River’ Celebration on Saturday, February 10 from 3-5 p.m. at Mercado on Fifth, 423 12th Street.
The project team took public ideas shared back in October to develop three design concepts for the riverfront. The project team will give a presentation on the project background, community vision and design concepts starting at 3:10 p.m.
The celebration features family-friendly activities and attractions such as free professional Valentines-themed photos, a Valentines-inspired decorating station and local sweet treats and refreshments. Free parking will be available to the north of the building.
The initiative, led by the City of Moline, Renew Moline and a multidisciplinary planning team, will develop a vision and implementation plan to re-imagine the Moline riverfront. The planning and design process involves community engagement, ecological resilience and improved health and wellness for all ages, focusing on planning for future investments within Moline Centre and along the Mississippi River.
The project will include a series of events and surveys to find ideas, define concepts and make sure the final plan reflects market realities combined with what the public wants to see along the riverfront.
