Wellstar School of Nursing has a fast-track history. In 45 years, the program has advanced from an associate degree nursing program to a university-based program offering accelerated and advanced degree programs providing students with an aggressive, comprehensive education grounded in practice, theory, research, and innovation.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program is the traditional route for students to become Registered Nurses (RN). Admission to the program is highly competitive even among those already enrolled at Kennesaw State University. At completion, the student becomes eligible to take the National Council Licensing Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program

A student who has already completed a degree in another field does not need to retake prerequisite courses for nursing and can apply to the accelerated BSN program.

Master of Science in Nursing – Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program prepares experienced RNs (who have been working at least three years in the field) to earn certification as Family Nurse Practitioners. At completion, a nurse has the skills and knowledge necessary to function as a primary care provider and is eligible to sit for the certification exam to become a nurse practitioner.

Master of Science in Nursing – Advanced Care Management and Leadership Program

The MSN in Advanced Care Management and Leadership program is 100 percent online and requires 15 months to finish. It is open to RNs with at least a year of work experience. This program is an ideal opportunity for an RN who is interested in implementing rapidly changing healthcare policies, learning about managing problems and decision-making in the healthcare field, learning about leadership strategies, and developing leadership skills. At completion, the graduate can become certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Housed in Prillaman Hall, a 200,000 square-foot, $56M health sciences research and teaching facility dedicated in 2010, Wellstar College of Health and Human Services has 15 laboratories; nine classrooms; seven seminar rooms; four computer labs; and a 230-seat auditorium.

Georgia Board of Nursing 2021 NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination) Data recognizes KSU (Kennesaw State University) as having the highest 4-year average of any Georgia BSN Nursing Program - 97.32%.

Wellstar School of Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Education for Nursing. Graduates of the Wellstar School of Nursing go on to work in prominent medical facilities in the Metro Atlanta area, with the U.S. military, and in underserved communities throughout the Southeast.
